We are thrilled to have advised Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) on the construction, delivery and registration of the wind assisted propulsion supply vessel named "JUREN AE".

The "JUREN AE" was built by KOSTEC Co. Ltd. and Asia Shipbuilding Co., LTD. in collaboration with Hochschule Emden/Leer. She was funded by the German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through the Implementing Agency, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), and donated to the Marshall Islands government and is flying the flag of the Marshall Islands. The ship is now owned by The Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation, Majuro, Marshall Islands. She is destined to operate in local carbon neutral Pacific Islands trade, transporting copra and other goods.

The 481 GT vessel is equipped with a part automated sailing system, using solar cells to generate electricity. Propellers convert wind power into energy, which is stored and can be used during slower manoeuvres.

At ERG, the transaction was led by Partner Stefan Rindfleisch and supported by Senior Associate Benjamin Chen and Associate Christina Kertscher.
