
Bettina Joos is an expert in the area of structured financing. She has comprehensive experience in domestic and foreign ships and fleets financing, container financing, special financing involving leases and promissory notes. Another of Bettina Joos’ fields of expertise and activity comprises loan syndications and restructurings. She also advises in the sale and purchase of ships including newbuildings and maritime projects of emission houses.
Bettina Joos is author of the chapter on foreign transactions in the well-known banking manuals “Bankrecht und Bankpraxis” as well as author of the chapters dealing with discount and forfaiting, documentary credits, debt collection and transportation law of the book “Vertrags- und Formularhandbuch zum Handels-, Gesellschafts-, Bank- und Transportrecht”. Moreover, in the context of Hamburg University’s complementary business law courses, she lectures on „Payment and securing payment in foreign trade“.
Bettina Joos studied law in Berlin and graduated majoring in trade and corporate law in 1999. During her legal education she already worked in the legal departmemts of Deutsche Bank AG in both Berlin, and Luxemburg. After her graduation she joined Deutsche Bank AG in Hamburg followed by the headquarter in Frankfurt/Main where she worked until 2005 in the legal department advising on – inter alia- ship finance, corporate and structured finance, insolvency and restructuring, trade and export financing, as well as the guarantee business. In 2005 Bettina Joos joined the firm and became a partner in 2006.
